Reason being is in the warmer months of the year your car needs a different kind of oil to run it. When the weather gets cold, you need to be running thinner oil so it doesn’t get too thick for the car to start on those cold days. In the spring you need to be running the right thickness of oil for the warmers months. If the oil is too thin when the hot weather hits, it becomes thinner as the temperature goes ups. Thinner oil means less protection against friction on all the essential engine parts and you run the risk of damaging your engine.
